2216 too much too short?

I have about  16 xx75 and xx78 2216 superlight shafts. I picked up for super cheap at a garage sale (big box of old arrows for 8 bucks) I would really like to use the with my bow but I am concerned about  a couple of things. I have a martin saber set up with a nap center rest it's 55lbs @28". My draw is 27 1/2 and these arrows are cut to 26.5 with nocks. Are these too heay for my bow? Considering using a 150 grn tip and do you guys think they are too short for my draw? I'm thinking about just splicing and 2 inches or so onto the end. thanks for the responses guys. I am really new to archery and appreciate your help.

Arrows are definitely too short if your draw length is 27.5".  It will force you into bad form with an unnatural anchor.  You'll be "short drawing" the bow.  I wouldn't want to splice arrows together    :eek: .  Too dangerous.

well by splicing I mean using inserts and screws to add 2 inches onto the tip kind like they do with take down type arrows only smaller.

Have you heard of Stu Miller´s Dynamic Spine Calculator? According to that, you would need about 300 grn at the tip to make them work with a 55# Martin Hunter (the Saber is not on Stu`s list). The best would be, I think, a custom-made, lathe turned insert that would add about 150 grn and at least 1 1/2 inches at the tip. If you can make those yourself, it would work...but if you have to pay for it, it is probably going to cost more than a bunch of new arrows, I guess...just my two cents.

Jacob,One thing you can do is get yourself a couple of 2413 shafts and cut them into 3" pieces add 2413 inserts to these,slide around 1" of wood dowelling from the other end so it rests inside and on top of the insert.Then hot melt and slide the whole new sleeve on top of your 2216.This works real well.It adds weight and strength to you arrow.2413's fit real tight over 2216's.I've done this many times,works real well.

2 inches of 2216 with 3 inches of 2016 as my insert. Might work might not but I got the tools and the inclination + no spare cash for a month or so. Might as well try what I have.

Jacob,You've got the right idea,good for you.As long as the insert (2016) is tight she should spin good and true.I did the same as you with some 2213's it worked great.Best of luck.
