Aluminum vs. carbon noise

I have shot wood shafts for over 20 yrs. and have decided to give aluminum or carbon shafts a try. I have read the pros and cons of both but don't recall if one was noisier than the other especially in a variety of weather conditions.

Do yo mean as they are drawn across the rest material? They make a slightly different sound, but niether is loud.

I have found that the rough side of a piece of leather is the most silent rest for an arrow to be drawn across.

Generally speaking aluminum would be the loudest on the draw and release, wood the most quiet with carbons in between. But this would all depend on the type of bow, different rest materials, overall weight of the arrow and method of release. I think you could make any arrow quiet if the bow is tuned properly.

Thin walled Al will be the loudest.

Hmmm...I've seemed to have had a different experience than the other posters. My aluminums draw much quieter for me, the carbons seem to be the noisiest, just depends on too many variables. Finish of the shaft, shelf and side plate material etc etc

Carbons with the woodgrain type wrap seem to be quieter than a bare carbon. Compared to wood aluminums always seemed like I was carrying a quiver full of tuning forks. :D

I've never found properly spined aluminum to be any noisier than the others.
