Beman MFX 500 discontined..replace with Easton Axis Trad 400?

Am I thinking correctly in my thinking? I currently shoot Beman MFX 500 which has a 9.7gpi, since this arrow is being discontinued, am I correct to replace these with Easton Axis Traditional 400 because the 400s has 9.6 gpi which is close enough.. I should cut the arrow the same length or slightly longer and we are good to go.. correct? Or should i just buy a whole lot of MFX since I know where I can get them...  BTW..Easton owns beman

You shouldn't go by the gpi when deciding the correct arrow for your bow or when comparing arrow spine to arrow spine. Go by spine deflection instead. If you're shooting 500s and get great flight, then you should stay with 500 spine regardless of which arrow brand you choose.

That is a big change all other things being the same. It could be okay to make a change in spine depending on what your are drawing for length, weight,.... but you will not shoot the same length and/or same point weight. You will be starting from scratch on arrow tune.   There are other 500 trad shafts with a little more or less gpi. You will have to decide on what is best for your needs.  Even with a straight up change to another 500 spine, you really should tune from scratch.  I do not find all shafts of same spine particularly of different diameters to fly exactly the same.  

The easy thing to do is stock up while you can if you really like the arrow you shoot now.  Then you can do some research on  other options and even test some stuff out to come up with another arrow option before you run out of shafts.  It is never a bad thing to have a stock pile of no longer available shafts.  You will likely be able to get all your money out of them if you don’t use them.

I was under the impression that the MFX was now being marketed as Bone Collector shafts. I've got a dozen of them in 500.

I have the same problem except with the 400's. Should I go the 340 axis and brass inserts I use the aluminum on my MFX 400's. The stu's chart would put them at about the same spine but the 340 would be heavier. I wish they hadn't stop making the MFX's.LCH

If MFX is now Bone Collector I wouldn't touch them with a 10' pole.  In fact, when I heard Beman (Easton) had a Bone Collector model of the MFX I called the company and asked if they would still have the non-BC model or I would switch arrows.

No "Crush" or "Bone Collector" stuff will be in my hut.

The Beman MFX Classics are now the Easton Axis Traditional.
The Centershot are bigger.
When you switch over you'll lose a few gpi, but in reality it's not that much and you'll be fine. If you change to the 400s you're going to have to mess with your whole setup.
I just bought a lot of the Classics...

The Easton Full Metal Jackets are about the closest thing to Beman MFX Classics.

I did since I was on the edge of being slightly underspined with my 500 Bemans and was shooting 100gr tips to keep the spine up, I switched to Axis Traditional 400's with the same 100gr insert and shooting 125gr tips and with some brief bareshafting they are coming in about 1in longer and using my original 125gr tips I am at the same arrow weight I use to shoot with the 28in 500's and 125gr tips on my other bows.
