KC area TG'ers

Hey all, I will be at Ft Leavenworth, KS from Monday Aug 27th and leaving Wed, Aug 29th. Was wondering if there was anywhere to fling a few arrows on Monday or Tuesday evening?
Please let me know, if no shoots or whatever, wouldn't be opposed to meeting for dinner or something.

I will be in Montana hunting but maybe next time you come this way we can all meet up at Cabela's or Bass Pro for a cup of coffee.

Thanks Tracy. I will give you a shout. Is there a range in the area to fling some arrows?

There is a club in Linwood called Tri-County but you have to be a member to shoot. I don't know much about Leavenworth as far as archery clubs go maybe someone else will come on here that can help you.
My brother lives between Buffalo and Lebanon not to far from ya next time I am down that way. Sorry, Wish I could help :(

Off I-35 in Platte Woods, Mo. just North of Kansas City, Mo. the Missouri Conservation Dept. has a very nice Archery only shooting Range, also there is around 2000 acreas for Archery Hunting only there. All you need is to contact the Missouri Conservation and set your schudle dates with them for your reservations, they have nice restrooms and a previllion with overhead roof for eating and just getting together, BBQing,ETC....ONE SHOT...

Actually, that's Platte City off I-29. Platte Woods is a little neighborhood 15 minutes south of Platte City in the north part of Kansas City and I-35 joins I-29 southbound a few miles farther south from there. To add more confusion, the conservation area is called Platte Falls.
The simple answer is Platte Falls Conservation Area is on the opposite side of I-29 from Platte City and takes up most of the land between exits 19 and 20. Take exit 19 east which is route HH to get to the archery range about a mile or less from the highway. No reservations or need to contact the MDC as it is not a monitored range. Just some target buts from 10yards out 50 yards, a couple dirt banks to shoot broadheads into and a somewhat neglected walk through course in the woods where you can shoot at plastic milk jugs hung on wires in front of more dirt berms.
I go there fairly often and do most of my hunting there. If you can meet during the day, I can show you around a bit if you'd like but I leave for work at 2pm.
PM me if you are interested. Don't know my way around on the Kansas side at all though.

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

Dave thanks for correcting My mistakes about the directions to the Platte City Archery range.
Give Me a call Buddy and lets get together for another BBQ and Shoot. My Grandson and I can make it, and I know another Trad. Ganger here that may be able to join us also.
I wasn't sure that you were still in the K.C. area, cause I hadn't seen you post in awhile. Glad to know you are still around town....ONE SHOT...

Appreciate the information. I will probably be going back to the area and will remember this.
On Monday evening I went to Paul/KS' home after he graciously offered to feed me and fling a few arrows at his place. I thoroughly enjoyed myself with the warm welcome and good food. Flung a few arrows and fed one to the arrow gods
Big thanks to Paul and his family.
Any of you all get out this way give me a shout.
Thanks

It was a pleasure to meet you Nick and you are very welcome. I'll keep an eye on that pasture and see if your arrow shows up...none of mine ever have tho. :( Give us a shout next time you are up here.
Best regards,
Paul
