New bow for my hunting buddy (son)
« on: February 20, 2013, 10:53:00 PM »
So, I have been out of it for a while, and my nephew happened to be in town. He is in the Air Force and had some traing at the base around here, so I got to see him for a while. We started talking hunting and fishing, guess he is really big into that. I showed him my recurve and longbow, and gave him a recurve I picked up at a yard sale. I didnt think he was going to be so excited by it, but he was. We went shooting a few times while he was here.
I had to get some inserts for some arrows I bought a while back at the local shop and wouldn't you know it, but I found a proper recurve for my son, a Samick Angel. I was so stoked, my son is 4 1/2 so I thought the only bow I would be able to find is a toy one or something. I've been shooting with him now for a while, we have shot just about every day, he is picking it up pretty good. I am so excited and can hardly wait for the day. I'll try to figure out how to post pics again and share. Good times!

That's awesome. I've got a boy the same age. He has a fiberglass bow that does not fit him. I'm going to get him one like that. It looks like its just the right size for him.

Nothing better than spending time in the outdoors with your kids. Great picture.

Oh yes, very soon. I was going through some pictures the other day and had a head picture of a deer at the zoo. My son was playing around, and I toldhim to look. He turned and saw it and said," I want to shoot it!" LOL, we have been out shooting alot, and went to the indoor range shooting at targets alot recently, but soon, very soon.  :)

Great picture.
It amazes me how they can shoot 'four under', and do as well as they do. They learn so quickly, and  just plain have fun.

Ya, I've been trying to get him to use 3 fingers under, he's getting it down though. I have to go on a business trip for 3 weeks though, so we won't be able to shoot until I get back  :(
