new hunter arrow questions
« on: February 20, 2013, 11:41:00 PM »
so got a long bow last year and have hunted small game with it some. had some sucess but think this year i want to go deer hunting. have always used a compound but this trad thing is growing on me (fast!!!) so this is my question:

i have a 45# fred bear long bow. nothing special but seems to work fine for me. i know if i hunt with this shot placement will be key but what arrow and broad heads should i use? i know this is a lot of PO but just need a starting direction. i know i want to use aluminum arrows but not sure what weight arrows or BH's. 2 blade or 3 or 4?? just would like to know how heavy i will need to go with my setup to get enough KE and make this work.

like i said i know this is a lot of personal opinion but any advice will be greatly appreciated!

10 grain per pound is commonly accepted, give or take. 45 lb= 450 gn arrow. Find arrow that tunes well and go with it.  What are you shooting now?
