I am looking at purchasing a clicker, yes it has gotten that bad. I want to get one and remove the chain and use string. Which model do I need to get? The crick it or clicktey clack? three rivers sells both, What do you guys use?

Onr vote for "crick-it". I had put a piece of fish tubing over the bead chain. Complete removal could be done too.
Best of luck.
One word of caution about using these things, as I experienced it myself and have seen it with others. Intentionally make yourself "pause" (like count to two) when you hear the click. Just letting it rip as soon as you hear a click results in bad things......
