AD Arrows
« on: March 14, 2013, 01:28:00 AM »
Thinking about trying a half dozen to see what they are like. My bow is a Robertson Primal styk 66" 56#@28". I draw roughly 29.5". Where do I need to start with these arrows. I have only recently looked at these after seeing a post by Terry on Cades recent hunt. I have no idea where to start with these as I have heard they cover a wide range of spines.

Looks like you're pulling roughly 60 pounds, I would start with the AD Trads (not the lites). I pull 29" as well and they fly great out of my #60 Bob Lee longbow - I have them cut to a hair over 30" and have 145 grain tips  :)

I have found the AD Trads to be spine friendly and super tough. I bought 12 over 2 years ago. Lost 2 and busted 2.

AD Trad Arrow meets plate steel at a "Fun" Shoot = arrow busted.

However, AD Trad meets rock = just need a new field point.

The other 8 have been rode hard and put up wet. But, they still fly great.

I just finished making up a dozen and went out back for a quick shoot today before work.
I've got em cut to 29" and was trying out a 125gr head.

I noticed they tail kick right but do hit where I'm aiming at 18 yards. Tomorrow ill try some different weight heads till i get better flight.

I've been shooting CE Heritage with 175gr up front i'll have to see if these tune the same.

AD shafts are the best on the market! Like has been said above go with the regular Trads. I shoot mine off of bows from 50#-60# just by using a variety of point weights from 275 grains to 225 grains but 100 of it is with the brass insert.

Wep,
Went out and shot the new AD's. over all I'm impressed. I  shoot a 57# recurve. Arrows cut to 29". I started with 125gr up front. They shot ok. Very fast but tended to be unforgiving of form flaws and not perfect releases.

Them bumped up to 175. I think this is where I'll stay. I got great flight, good 5 inch groups at 20 yards.
