manzanita as riser wood?

Found some pics of manzanita lumber online, looks like it would make a pretty good looking riser material. Has anyone seen a bow with manzanita in the riser?

I have worked it and got this from wiki which is also my experience
The wood is notoriously hard to cure, mostly due to cracking against the grain, giving it few uses as timber. The slow growth rate and many branchings further decrease the sizes available. Some furniture and art employ whole round branches, which reduces cracking and preserves the deep red color.

It grows in our local mountains and is a very beautiful tree. The wood is super heavy, hard as a rock and would definitley make a nice riser. The problem is the checking and splitting. I have been looking for a decent piece for a while...
