Best 2 part epoxy??

What do you like best. Is there really a difference in the 5 minute and 24 hour stuff?  Saw a Gflex epoxy at west marine that the guy swore by but very pricey. Mostly for inserts. Thanks. Bill

 All I hear is the longer time required to cure the better...I haven't used any yet on my carbon's but bought some J.B. Weld and going to give it a whirl...I'm no expert in 2 part epoxy's but all I thought was some will cure or set up in 5 minutes and some 15 minutes and some 24 hours later    Best to learn some things by trial and error I guess...

I can't tell the diffrence as far as one being better than the other.  They all work for me.

The 24 hr epoxy is best for inserts over the 5 minute epoxy,I use it for all my carbon inserts and even use it for HIT inserts brass and aluminum.The 5 minute stuff is not strong enough.I'll use the 5 minute epoxy for small projects but not for inserts.

I like hot melt glue, for points and inserts, it is easier to remove an insert if the threads are bad, or want to change the length. Also use it on glue on points. As for epoxy, longer cure times are stronger, check the mfgrs specs online.

J-B Weld works very well. Once you glue in inserts they are pretty much permanent.. I use a 6mm brass bore cleaning brush in a drill to abrade/scratch the inside of the shaft then clean with a q-tip and acetone.. The use the J-B on the insert, makes a very strong bond.. Much better than the 5 minute epoxys..

I wish I would have read Pat B.'s post a few years ago.  It would have save me so time, money and frustration.  I do them the same way now and it works the best for me.

Long cure epoxy will hold up better to temperature variations than 5 minute epoxy.  I use JB weld long set as it gives me ample time time do a dozen arrows taking my time.

I had a guy tell me the reason the HIT inserts sometimes move before cure time is heat builds up from the epoxy and pushes out on the insert?  Any thought?

I'm with Pat B. on the JB Weld for inserts,I've use it for years and have never had any problems with it.

I use a lot of GFlex epoxy in my life, to fixe boats and paddles. It is  tough stuff. As for the heat building up, that is true, but I would say that most people use to much of it.
