Barry Wensel on "Weekend with Schaf" 1/07
« on: August 24, 2007, 11:21:00 PM »
Don't know if Barry Wensel checks this site, but thought he'd be interested.  Tonight, I walked into a liquor store in Denver, CO, and low-and-behold, there sat just past the entrance an enormous display of Budlight and Bud-heavy 24 oz. cans mixed with Clamato (red beer in a can).

If you haven't read the "Weekend with Schaf" story by Barry Wensel, check it out.  I found it on this site just last week and was drawn in immediately, being from the Flathead Valley.  Barry Wensel pitched an idea to a Budweiser executive about mixing Clamato and budweiser, and years later, still had not seen the combo in stores.  Well, it finally made it.  I'll bring a few 24oz Bud red beers to NW Colorado elk camp next weekend with my new Schafer Silvertip (thanks to the Windauers of Schafer Bows).

Thanks for the story Mr. Wensel.

Ah man!!! Yet another multi-million dollar idea I came up with! And I bet V.P. Ray Goff is retired by now and some young executive took credit for the brainstorm. I wonder if I'll be getting my royalty check soon from Uncle Budweiser. I still think they should have put it in a long necked bottle and called it Budweiser Redneck. I'm telling you, these guys need to listen to me more often. If any of you guys have any pull at the Bud plant make sure the board of directors reads the "A Weekend with Schaf" article. Maybe they'll feel sorry for me and send me a small percentage/royalty of sales profits. Are any of you guys an attorney who wants to take the case (no pun intended)? BW

yeah, Barr...geez...why don't you call Nathan Anderson...he might give you a PBS discount on the legal services?

I still think your idea for pre-printed bacon strips in the crotch of underwear was your best stuff, though. You  REALLY messed up letting that one out of the bag before you capitalized on it.

I was using baby axx-wipes and handwipes in bowhunting camp years and years before all the big toilet paper companies went to wet-wipes.  Where's my check?!?!?

Barry, at the very least I think they owe you free beer for the rest of your life!
I like BigMed's idea of bringing some of that to elk camp - gonna' have to check the local liquor store.....

You gotta be kiddin' me. Chelada? CHELADA?? Now I ask you... doesn't "Budweiser Redneck" have a better ring to it? I'm presently back east. I stopped at two "beverage" stores to check on it. Neither have heard of it but both knew what a red beer was. I need to get somebody on my case.. no pun intended. bw

chelada-now what's that???  A budweiser redneck, I can understand, but chelada??  Are we supposed to sip while holding one's pinky perpendicular to the bottle?  Actually, it sounds like a small, hairless dog of some sort!  Barry, I think I'll raise a glass of single malt to you in sympathy.
