Last day of winter stumping (pic heavy)

Well on the last day of winter ol' man winter decided to show it would be awhile before he released his icy grip.  Actually around here he does not move over for the sweet nymph of spring until May. I decided not to let it keep me in.  I wanted to try my new to me Catquiver II I bought off of Knapper.  I put a couple of arrows in and headed out.

My first shot was at a small piece of stump sticking out of the snow.  I should have taken a before pict as all you can see are the two small pieces left after the arrow went through.
 

My next target was a thin stump.  I missed high on this one.

 

I was aiming at the plus, a little high and right
 


I was aiming at the right eye in the snow face on this stump.
 

A bit high again, well rather hit a turkey high than low.

 

Luckily I found the arrow in a jumble of fir trunks and branches, it would have been a tough tracking job in this mess.

Cool stuff Mike. Its still snowing down here. You should be able to get out soon and try the safari tuff thats on its way. We has a snowday and I meant to get out, but other things got in the way.

The catquiver rode well, didn't even know it was there. Took a little to get used to putting the arrows back in with it on, but once I did it once or twice, no problem.  I have an arrowmaster on loan from Zippercurve.  I plan to try them both out during turkey season to decide which fits my style the most.

Thanks Tyler,  looking forward to trying it out.  We had a snow day as well.  Got my taxes done this morning.  Decided to reward myself with some shooting.  Blackfly shoot is May 5th.  put it on your calender.

great pics Micheal....it was 80 here last Saturday and this coming Saturday they are calling for freezeing rain and a high of 34......spring.........what a wonderful time of the year !!!!!

Thanks for posting the pics!  I am trying to decide between the catquiver and arrowmaster myself as I've decided to not use a bowquiver this year.  I would appreciate you letting me know what you decide and why between the two.

Michael, looks like a nice day out for you as well. I love stumping in the snow. I modified my cat quiver to one strap, but either way I have been enjoying it for years. Thanks for sharing your " last day" of winter adventure.

Looks like a great day to be in the woods, although I would think stumpshooting in that stuff would get VERY expensive!  How many arrows stayed behind?

I found them all, though my last shot took a couple of tries.  No more stumpin' for awhile, ended up with 9 inches, and that is too deep to find arrows.
