Carbon insert adhesive

Hello folks, I just recently started to shoot GT 55/75 carbons.  The proshop where I bought them cut to length and installed inserts using Steel Force insert adhesive.  Just wondering if the removal process is the same as with hot melt glue (indirect heat on a field point). Once they are out, is there a better adhesive to use or is this type alright to use?

Hot melt glue all the way.  Use it solely and have not probs with inserts coming out, even in tough foam.  Just plain easy.

Gotta agree with Mohillbilly.  Hot Melt is just way easier and works just fine...

Ditto the hot melt!  Never had a problem.

I don't like the hotmelt, It seems when I used it and hit something hard the inserts would drive up the shaft splinterering or mushrooming the end of it. I have been useing JB weld on the last couple dozen and so far it has worked perfect. Make sure you clean the inside of the shaft with acetone really good before glueing!

I would go with the JB weld. I made up a dozen for the muzzy shoot brass inserts and footed. I did a test shaft and all i had was JB weld the rest i did later with 24 hr epoxy, the JB weld is the only one that the insert held after some hard contact with rocks.

I like Gorilla Glue, personally.  At the Ironman shoot at ATAR I shot the "iron pig" and turned 10 inches of an Easton Excel 500 into a slinky - but the area of the shaft glued to the insert was intact.  It has also withstood multiple hits into rocks, block walls ;-) and has never broke loose.  It's heat reversible, too.

I lose inserts like mad with hot melt.  

Believe it or not, good ol superglue works very well.

I use beyond bond for inserts and feathers. It works great.

jb weld...

hot glue seems to work really well in aluminum shafting as you can heat the aluminum enough to make it flow and cover really well.

You can go to a Golf shop and get some of their shaft cement for the graphite shafts. It is the best I have found so far, it retains some elasticity for the hard hits and you don't pop inserts.

golfworks.com has some great shaft epoxy for carbons.  It works great.  As Bowshot noted, it will take a hit and stay put.

use low heat glue. 3 Rivers sells it. Been using it for years and never had an insert come out. I don't even clean the inside of the shaft. I have tried Ferr-L-Tite and I don't like it for inserts.
