Another Kid Hooked on Trad
« on: March 23, 2013, 07:52:00 PM »
Some time back I bought a youth bow from a member here (JamesV) for my friends son. His dad is not a hunter and has never owned a bow. I invited them on a 3D shoot while visiting a few days ago. Steve said he thought Eli would enjoy that. We drove 2 hours to Baton Rouge this morning and met up with some old friends of mine. We formed a group and hit the trail.
Eli is a natural!

My son Cameron and Eli are close in age. They had a blast together.

Great day for sure.  Looks like you will have a couple of young bucks to make sure you can still get out in your old age.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

I like how Eli reaches for another arrow after he hits the running deer. Looks like a great time.

It funny how some people (at some of the types of shoots I used to, but no longer, attend) seemed to be irritated when a group of kids would slow things up.  I am just the opposite. It is wonderful to see youngsters enjoying this wonderful game.  Since I am seldom in the running for top honors at the competitions I enter, I some times team up with a young family with kids and offer what little assistance I can.

I really enjoy the pictures and descriptions you give of the event.  Keep up the good work.

We kept picking at him, Saying we weren't going to let him bring a quiver full to the next shoot because he wanted to empty the quiver at every target   :bigsmyl:
