Marble Dip for the Machetes

Well I read the "Mild to Wild" thread on marble dipping, and you all know how I love to sit around and not do anything and be happy with the same old same old
NOT
. I couldn't wait any longer to get going on this cool aspect of crown dipping.
With out further adoo, Here is my 1st attempt on an arrow after about a dozen trial and error pieces of broken arrows. I think I like the results. Room for improvement, but in all I think it looks really cool. Gonna be some really pretty Motor City Machetes coming out of the shop now...FINALLY

awesome job Mike I'm going to play around with that myself as soon as the woodies I have ordered get here. What paint did you use? I tried it today with some broken pieces and some bohning paint that I had laying around my results weren't so good it was heavy in spots and verry light in others I think maybe I needed to thin the paint out more.

I used a rattle can from Home Depot and it was the "Cream" color of the camoflage paint line, and did 3 drops each of Testors cream, black and olive (you can see the color in the lower left of the picture right below the marble). Even worked on a bare shaft. There is some trial and error involved, but once I get it figured out, it will be a pretty cool addition to the arsenal.

Thank you Roger. These are the arrows I'm making up to join you and I in Wyoming.
If I were a mule deer, I would be honored to have one of these pass thru me.

Hey Mike, you need to figure out how to get a snake skin pattern to go with Jake the Snake (Beavertail)...guess I forgot to mention that I named the bow I traded to you...I also called it Jake the Snake (Zebra) with the left handed zebrawood riser I had for it

Nice job Mike, I have done the marble, or swirl dip before. I used my bohning cresting paints which i had thined down, it seemed to spread out over the water better than the paint straight from the can.
