I would stay in Georgia and would use either my Hill Wesley Special or my Hill Cheetah - sort of a toss up at this time. My quiver would be a Hill back quiver full of wood arrows. I would hunt whitetail, turkey, hog, bear, and coyotes. Why? 'cause its home.

I'd stay in Oklahoma.  Everything from pigs to pronghorn, elk to bear, and a few critters they haven't made seasons on like feral goats and armadillas.

Hunt with my regular setup of a longbow made by a guy nobodys ever heard of, mfx shafts and vpa 150gr 2 blade heads tucked away to rest in an Eagles Flight 4 arrow quiver.

well,  Colorado!  Of course the DOW would have to umm change.

bears
whitetail
lions
antelope
sheep and goats.
I'd use a 62" Black widow longbow 55#
probably a WW broad head ( or grizzlies I'm undecided)
I'd also need a mule to haul all the game out and a wrangler because I don't want to mess the mule!
Now that I've had time to think... Colo's bow season starts in 5 months and 2 days and I will have licenses for elk, deer and bear.  Life is good.

Made the choice a few yrs back and am already here..middle of nowhere, walk out the door and start hunting whitetails and gobblers. National Forest, S. Il.

If I had of been in better physical health it would probably be somewhere in the Rocky Mountains.

I skipped this thread for days.  Let me try...I would have said Colorado a few days ago. Not so sure now.

IF I could entice the kids and grandchildren to go with us, my wife of 35 years and I would be in Cody, Wyoming.  Or Missoula, MT.

Wyoming would be be a strong consideration for me.Outside a city though.Someday I may want to get out of NY.Build me a nice little ranch home at the foot of the mountains.Hunt, fish the trout streams and bow hunt some more.

I would find a place where there are multiple big game animals to chase, decent seasons, and hang in there. Mountains would add a bunch to the mix.  

Nothing fancy, just the affordable opportunity.  I know,  money is no object, but I was raised a certain way and even if I had won that big lottery of recent, I would not go nuts.  I would buy land, a bunch, and otherwise stay as much the same as I could.

Arkansas has a lot to offer.  Long seasons, some variety of game and terrain, good fishing and bowfishing, always something to chase nearby, not too far to the gulf, moderate weather.  A person could do worse.

Wyoming has some great hunting but lots of wind. The hunting is good in the mountainous areas. And did I mention the wind. A lot of the state is quite barren and there is a lot of wind. Gary

Fletcher, I hope you didn't think I was cutting Arkansas out of the equation, I just don;t know very much about it. I think most States offer opportunities for outdoor enthusiast.Thanks for your post.

Wasn't thinking that at all, Knawbone  I'm not from Arkansas and don't have any plans to move there, but I've visited and enjoyed myself.  It does have a lot to offer.  Enjoying this thread and making me think.  

Most of think/dream about heading west or to Alaska, but for most there who have to live near the city to work, etc, hunting means a long weekend trip or other travel.  I really like being close enuf to an area that I can hunt or fish after work or part of a weekend.  Midwest is hard to beat for that.

Fletcher, I'm with you there, I like being able to walk out my door and start hunting. I really am blessed to have the home and land I do.If I die here, I will have no regrets.Still, sometimes it's nice to dream.

In all honesty, I understood your question perfectly.    I spent many years hunting right near my home, and never felt the desire to go elsewhere.

We even have a good bear population in my state, yet I never wanted to hunt them.

Somewhere along the road of life I decided to try hunting another state…..and the floodgate opened. Now I cannot get enough of hunting different states, different countries, and for animals that I once never considered hunting for.

If I had to limit myself to one state for the rest of my hunting days, it would be Alaska. After that, I would go for a western state, but I would have to research seasons and tag availabilities before picking one.
