suggection on Bamboo shafts

Can someone point me torwrds someone who makes quality bamboo shafts? I would like to try some out, thanks.

I have just started making bamboo arrows by following the post in the how to resource section.  I have learned a lot through trial and error and every arrow is better then the last.  I purchase packs of six stakes from home depot and almost any hardware store with a garden department.  I can usually get 4-5 workable shafts from the bunch.

I did find a larger supplier down your way (Bamboo supply company).  They have exactly what you will need if you wanted to build your own.  I havent ordered from them yet so I cant say anything about the quality.  If you are looking for finished shafts, I know three rivers archery sells them, but again I havent ordered from them yet either.

Here is a couple pictures of one of my most recent arrows.  These arrows are almost bulletproof and can take a serious beating. They also weigh up really nicely.  I foot the front of mine with an aluminum shaft for good measure and to make it easier to change out points.

There's some boo on my way to and from work, I'm going to start
With it and practice straightening and tapering.

I wish I could pick my own shafts.  I'm sure you will be able to find some good straight ones.  I think if you can find some in the shade its supposed to be straighter there. Let me know how ya make out.  Good luck!!

Have only good things to say about oulay bamboo shafts that you can get from fleabay - cost $90 including shipping for 50 shafts spined within 5# - also fully sanded & finished 33" shafts - weights for my 50-55# ranged from 24-28g - easier & less time-consuming than the HD garden stakes I was trying before - will be using them this WE once turkey season starts as I seem to shoot them just that little bit better than anything else - M

Thanks guys, Just a little update. I've actually found two sources for bamboo. the river cane seems and looks to be the better choice, but I found some larger boo I went ahead and cutt. I spent all afternoon cutting the limbs off and prepping them for straightening and sanding. About... I'd say roughly 100 or so pieces.

For the guys who bought the boo from "oulay", I have a 40# @28" longbow, I havn't found a arrow correctly spined for it yet. Just wondering what you would suggest on spine weight from him? I tried full length 1535 and they were weak, Shot 500 (some type of carbon) full length with 125 heads and they shot like darts. I didn't get the name of them, they belonged to a guy we shot with last weekend, I forgot to ask.

Once I get a few down, I'll go ahead and start a seperate thread/build along and show what I've found out crafting them, so far, I'm stoked!

Was just curious if anybody would be willing to send me 1 arrow spined around 600 (full length) either with 100 grain or 125 grain field point. Or even a couple around that weight if your comfortable with it. I'd pay shipping both ways, and promise your arrow will return the way it was sent.

This way I could shoot/find the correct spine and use it to spine my new bamboo shafts.

There is a guy that was set up at the KY Tradfest that had some great looking bamboo arrows none in my weight or I would have some. His name is Ed and is from Hamiltion Ohio.That is all I know.  MIKE

Thanks Mike, I've got a few people in mind to but shafts that are done. I just don't know what spine I need and don't want to spend the $ buying a dozen arrows that are not correct for my bow.

I've cut quite a few bamboo stalks and am willing to take the time and work to go through them checking the spine to save $. I just need a starting point.

I need a 500 spinded arrow full length with 125 grain head.

I would also be willing to pay for the one arrow if you rether sell it.
