Steve Catts Combo Hunter
« on: April 24, 2013, 05:55:00 AM »
G'day Guys,
I need some advice, I am looking at purchasing one of Steve Catts's Combo Hunter Quiver's. Is there anyone out there that owns or has used one of these quivers. It is quite an expensive quiver & I don't want to make an expensive mistake so any  feed back good or bad would be appreciated.

I have one of these and it's not what I thought it would be. Although it is a beautiful quiver, you'll need to be hunting something that doesn't care about a ittle noise. I bought it for a mountain lion hunt and it worked well for that. For me, it's a little to big and definately to noisy.

G'day Deathwind
Where do you think the noise comes from & is it something that can be fixed? Can you post a couple of pics of yours?
I am a little concerned about the size & weight but I want a quiver that can take a dozen arrows with broadheads & keep the fletches fairly dry in the rain.

I was quoted approx 3 months which is no surprise & no problem if it's the right one.

Let me say first of all that Catts quivers and leather goods are works of art. This one has a lot of squeaks that remind me of the leather on a horse saddle when you are using it. Naturally not as loud as a saddle but I think you know what I mean. Maybe if you would oil the heck out of everything, it wouldn't be as noisy. It will hold a bunch of arrows. At least 18 or so, with no problem. Let me know if you want to see anything else on the quiver. I talked my grandaughter in to holding this for me.

Yep. Ordered a side quiver. Was told a few weeks, ended up being a few months. No complaints, gorgeous quiver, definitely worth the wait. I noticed on his website that he now has a store where you can purchase already-made items.

Thanks for the pictures Bill, it looks like it is fairly long. What length arrows was it built to accommodate & what do you think of the weight of it? It almost looks new, do you not use it much?

Lyonel,

The total length of the quiver is 36" and it's 24" with out the top on it( making a center of the back quiver ). I'm not sure what the total weight is, but I would guess about 2 pounds. It's not terribly heavy. The only time I've ever used it was on a mountain lion hunt. My favorite quiver that is built like this one is the Elite quiver that you can get in 3 rivers archery. It doesn't hold has many arrows though, as the Catt quiver.

Thanks for the info Bill,
I looked at the Elite & a couple of others similar to it, unfortunately none are designed to carry more than about six arrows with broadheads.

A good dose of unscented baby powder between all leather joints will silence any squeak noise until it's broken in. We use it on new saddles 'cause its cheap, simple, and works.

Forgot to mention I think this quiver would be great for protection on a horse, ATV, motorcycle, etc. and I wish I had one.
