new glove noise
« on: April 24, 2013, 10:23:00 PM »
Hi this will be my first post but probably will be more to come.
Been shooting trad. again for about a year. I got a new Bateman glove about a week ago. I wet it and got fitting pretty good and applied snow seal. The glove is supper slick, cordovan. Love that part. But for some reason now quite often it makes the shot very loud. Is it not being broke in yet or what do you think? i put my old glove on and its a lot quiter. It is leather only. Pretty much the same thickness.
Any ideas.
Thanks, Steve

From what i have heard those gloves take a little while to break in. I bet when broke in the noise will disappear.

I've shot a Bateman glove just like yours for a little over a year and a half. Never had an issued with it. Therefore, I have a question.

Which model glove did you get?
Are the finger stalls all cordovan?

Cordovan is about the slickest thing you can get for a glove and it gives a great release. Mine is the traditional finger stall glove with full cordovan. I did dust it a little with talcum powder between the fingers when new as it tended to squeak when drawing the bow.

Hi,
It is the two layer model with inserts. The exterior finger stalls
are all cordovan.  Another part of what i'am working with now is arrow spine, some I feel are probable border line weak. Could this much faster releasing glove be pushing it over the edge. Some arrows do actually do seem quiter and they are heaver spines?
