B-Dog- I have a couple of Black widow plx's in take down models. I would not have anything other than a take down again.
The last time I flew with my one piece in a 4" pvc tube, the airline broke the glued on end of the tube. Try it some time. Bet you can't break it with out trying several times!!
I would be carefull who you purchase from though.
There are a lot of boyers out there making incredible one piece bows, but two piece and feeling like one piece is another story.
Last June I flew to Michigan to the expo to try to find a TD long bow. I could only find two that were above 60#. They were beautiful bows until I shot them. One was a nock off of the locket socket (widow)but was much thiner in the handle and surounded with wood. Now I only draw to 28" but when I did, before I shot the first arrow, it split up the riser. The second bow was a beautiful birdseye maple riser with the bow bolt system. The bowyer supplied arrows and all. During my first 5 shots, I could feel the handle rock a little in the joint. I didn't like that much, but on the 6th arrow, the handle exploded in my hand leaving a nasty welt on my side and some bloody knuckles through my glove!! Now after breaking two bows in a row you might think that it was me. I can assure you that that wasn'
t my first day with a bow. I was later told however that the bow bolt bow should of at least had some micarta or something in the handle to strengthen it to handle the 62# draw.
After all of that trouble I settled in on a BW TD of 67# and am extremely happy. I now have one of 82# and one on the way of 90#. There is no way of knowing that it is a TD model by looking at it or shooting it.
Sorry for being so long winded but I thought that my experiences would help.
Good luck, shoot straight and often, BigJim
