How to Handle wrap a bending handle?

Hi,
can some one point me to some useful Build-A-Long info on how to create a "built up handle" using leather. Then to wrap a piece of leather on this built up handle.
Have have done a search Using "Handle" on past archieve, but fail to find anything.
Thanks and cheers. :D

Hey RT, here's one way to do it from the How To section, (but this method makes the leather as hard as the wood)
http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000066
I have built them up by glueing leather on the back of the bow with contact cement and by wrapping the handle with cork sheeting glued on with contact cement and then shaping with a rasp before leather wrapping it all. You can get the cork sheeting at auto stores here in the US, they use it for head gasket material. Not sure about Singapore although I would assume they use it for that as well. The nice thing about the cork is it absorbs some of the handshock usually inherent in bendy handle bows.

Ferret,
Do you think that some of these hi-tech synthetic rubber materials, like sorbathane (the stuff used in rifle recoil pads)or 'limbsavers' would work for building up the handle of a self bow?
I was thinking that the sorbathane, whle deadening hand shock would also quiet the bow by absorbing as this stuff REALLY absorbs vibration.

R.W. I'm not familiar with Sorbathane. Does it come as a liquid or a semi solid that hardens (like dipping a tool handle in that rubberized stuff), or come in a thin sheet? How would you affix it to the bow?

Mickey,
It comes in sheets and "blocks" as they make rifle recoil pads from it (decelerator pads, etc)
I was thinking that you could wrap it around the handle area, the bow would still bend freely, but the sorbathane would absorb a lot of shock, and vibration. (It is very similar to the stuff that "Limbsavers" are made of-these out of Simms laboratories.)

Hi John,
Thanks for the "How to " link, I have actually read thru it, but am a bit concern as it mentioned soaking the leather with super glue, I am concern that the "build up" handle will become so hard that the handle area actually stop bending.
But I was reassure by some one actually replying to me that this will not be the case, as the handle area will still continue to bend.
