String slap question

Cryogenic

I am having a problem with string slap, but the odd thing is that it's only on one of my bows.  I have a Sky Archery heavily reflexed flatbow, a HH Big 5, and a Pronghorn 3pc.  It's the 3pc that slaps me. My form is the same with all 3 bows.  In order to avoid a significant string slap with the Pronghorn, I have to grip the bow rather tightly.

My first thought was brace height.  The brace height on the HH Big 5 is 6.5.  I don't remember what the other 2 are, but they are normal and within manufacturer spec.

Any thoughts as to what's going on?

May relate to the wrist of the grip. if you're using a high wrist grip on the 3 piece only you may be in a slightly different shooting position. I find the more the bow arm is extended towards your backside and the more it's outstretched the more likely to get string slap ...

Bjorn

My first reaction is you should not feel a need to grip any bow tightly. I would look at your elbow position-have it rotated down and out. Also check your foot position-back foot may be too close, should be shoulder width apart and back.

Cryogenic

I am certainly using a low grip.

To be honest, it is likely my elbow.  I have no idea why I shoot this bow differently from others, but when I concentrate on my elbow position--no string slap!

I suppose that should have been obvious to me.

Thanks all for the help!!

This should be in the shooters form forum, but I would agree with bjorn. Glad you got it figured out.
