Homemade Brush Buttons?

Anyone use homemade brush buttons? What do you use?
Any ideas?

The Limbsavers, mushrooms. The small ones that you mount on your limbs for vibration dampening. Cut the adhesive base off, drill a small hole in the center and use a bobby pin to thread on your string. The real Brush Buttons are hard as a rock and way too noisy.
