Looking for some advice
« on: May 30, 2013, 06:40:00 AM »
Hey folks,
I'm looking at buying an older Black Widow LAG. It's 64" and 57@28 but I draw 27 soooooo 54@28 for me. I'm looking for some wood arrow suggestions. I know that with a Widow you can shoot a heavier spine being that they are cut past center but I always have trouble picking the right spine arrow for a new bow. My arrows would be cut to 29" and I want to stick with my Zwickey Delta's so the point weights would be 135/145 grains.  Should I go with 60/65's 65/70's or 70/75's.... Any and all info is much appreciated.

When you say cut to 29 inches, do you mean to back of point?  That gives you two inches of arrow overhang plus the point.  Nothing wrong with that, but most people get enough clearance with about one inch past the back of the bow.

Regardless, since you're not shooting a particularly heavy head, 60-65# should work well. Could probably get by with 5# more or less spine as well.  In my experience, most bows will shoot a range of spines well, particularly those somewhat overspined.  Get your supplier's recommendation as well and perhaps try a test pack.

Thanks Orion. Yes, that is to back of point.

If you go to 29"s BOP I would really lean towards 65-70# spine and I bet ya dollars to doughnuts that closer to 70# will be perfect. Shawn
