Love my Great Northerns!  I haven't tried the jack-knife INDEX grip.  If you own/owned a bow with this grip, could I get your thoughts?  Pics are great, too!

Andrew I have more than a few Great Northern's, ask Jerry, and most have the jackknife feature. A couple of years ago I said I wouldn't order anymore with the hinge since if I was going to travel I would drive or not go and I had enough to choose from if I needed to fly. Well I really miss the feel of the hinge and the bow I have on order has the hinge. All of mine have the traditional grip not the index.

I like the jack-knife with the traditional/straight grip better than the index

I should add, I love the index grip.  My only T/D right now is the straight grip and I'm not loving it...but, might be trading it for a T/D index...hence my questions.  Thanks, keep 'em coming!

I like the straight grip and I like the index grip.  I don't like the straight grip with jackknife for my grip.  I am sure I could adjust with time but it just did not feel right.  Never tried the jackknife index.

I'm also a big fan of the straight grip with the Jackknife hinge. The bump puts me in the same spot every time.Great system.
And Andrew I did eye up your lil'creep before you traded.Sure was hard to resist. I must stay strong. No more bows....

I have the Ghost with the jacknife grip with index; and I place the hinge between my index and second fingers and it works very well for same place hand placement. I also have a Superghost and a fireball-both with no jacknife.[all lefthanded of course] lol./

I've owned the straight grip and have shot a bow with the index grip. The index grip seems to be easier on the arthritis I have in the basil joint of my thumb. So when I order one it will be a Jacknife Bushbow with the index grip.

I have and have had bows with both grips in a jackknife. I actually prefer the straight grip jackknife. For me, the hinge acts like a locator grip.

I would not be against buying a bow with an index grip and the CG I had with the index grip shot very well. I have a Fireball with the jackknife straight grip and it isn't going anywhere. Great bow.

I want the same answer to that question...I have had (2) Bushbows with the straight grip and jacknife system...plus have shot a straight grip bushbow without the jacknife... in addition to owning a Fireball with the index grip(which,by the way, is for sale).I must say that as far as "feel" goes...I prefer the index BUT have yet to try/shoot the index grip with the jacknife system. The hinge does add bulk to the grip. I shoot narrow grips better.

I've got two great northerns with the jack-knife index grip.  I think it helps me with grip consistency with the bump on the front of the bow and the dished out index on the back part of the grip.  I think it also depends how you grip the bow.  I use a low wrist/heel of my hand against the grip rather than a high wrist grip that some use.
