going to a friends house tomorrow to do some shooting, i shoot trap at the same club as he, but didnt know he and his wife are sort of trad archers. they shoot in a trad leauge in the winter, otherwise they shoot the wheels.wWell i have been shooting trad bow with him quite a bit lately and i believe he is starting to turn. He shoots a PSE recurve, but he has been eyeing up my customs, he calls me the other nite, says he just came from Kens house and bought himself a Whippenstik recurve, i was just telling him about Ken a few days earlier, he only lives about 30 min. from us, well he is excited to shoot with me on Fri. we both will have new toys to shoot.

it seems on my bows i am wearing out just the outside edge of my arrow rest, i am shooting cock feather in now lately, would that be the cause, the remaining part of the rest looks new.

If u are wearing out the outside of the rest it could be due to arrows that are too stiff.

3555 goldtips, beeman ics 400, all different wood, trying to find right arrow.just shot some cedar spined 65lbs, cut 28.5 bop they fly nice, had 3 2013 superlites 125 gr tips and they fly really nice also. also some of the feathers are cutting the top of my bow hand, never had that before, unless its the way i grip this vyperkahn, maybe the nock point, to high or low, shooting too many different size shafts. tring to find the best size shaft andarrow material.

Just cant seem to find that magic arrow for this bow. Vyperkahn longbow, 50# @ 28", i draw about 27.5 , i like about a 29" arrow, center shot, triple carbon limbs, 125 or 145gr pts. I can never get stus calculator to download.

I shoot a .400 w/ a 200gr point 28'' from a 60lbs@ 27'' triple carbon LB VK.As Mike suggested above.A .500 deflection seems right to me but I'll add,that a heavier point(175 or 200gr) may get you where you want.
I shoot w/ my cock feather up.As 4 the fletching hitting your hand??? Grip is designed to get the arro very close to your hand.

i shot the beemans after supper last nite with 200gr. tips, seem to fly much much better, and only shot the beemans, cock feather out, never hit my hand once.Shafts must have been to stiff with 125 tips. My skinny string should show up today, i will see how that changes things. I also have some surewood arrows in 65-70 spine i will try after work, have 125 and i think some 160gr. tips around, i will try both sizes. Thanks for all your help guys. Dave

I've got a triple carbon Vyperkahn that draws about 53.5 pounds at my 28 inch draw. I'm shooting axis 500's cut to 29 inches with a regular aluminum adapter and a 160 grain point and they fly perfectly.

I would think if u want to stick with that point weight you will either have to leave a 500 long or drop down to a 600.

Actually, just to muddy the waters a little bit more a 500 may still be the ticket. I had to cut the 500 down as far as I could to get it to fly out of my 53 lb Vyperkahn because it was a bit weak. I'd get a full length 500 and a full length 600 and go from there. I'm sure one of those two shafts will suit your needs.

Those 65-70 woods are going to be to stiff w/ a 160gr head.I think 190gr may get you there but would think a 60-65 would be the ticket.
Enjoy the compton shoot
