Welcome. I wish I didn't wait so long to get into the traditional side. If your from MI you need to check out the Compton Traditional rendevous or the trad arch show in Kalamazoo. Both Great.

Doing the same.  I know I cannot shoot as far as with the compound, but I am still hoping to become proficient enough for some close-in deer hunting later this fall.
I just enjoy shooting each.  I have take several deer with compounds over the years but I am really hoping for a traditional harvest this fall.  Come on October!

Jeff,

The best traditional "shoot" in the state   IS the following weekend.  It is in Grayling and it is called the Michigan Traditional Bowhunters Jamboree.  There are not a ton of vendors there but enough to get anything you need. Two Tracks, Great Northern, and Predator are usually there and Lost Nation Archery will have any arrow, point, or accessory you can think of.  Shooting at Compton is pretty crowded and I don't bother taking my bow there anymore because I know I will be in Grayling the next weekend where it is quiet and relaxed and the courses are as good or better.  I will see if I can dig up a couple links for you.

Land-O-Lakes Bowmen in Fenton (Exit 77 on US-23) is not all that far from you and is stacked with traditional shooters.  They shoot a 3d hunting course all summer Thursday nights and have weekend shoots throughout the summer.

Jay's does have a nice selection of traditional stuff because their manager hunts with a stickbow. Talk to him.

Really, welcome back and enjoy the ride, you'll find a lot of information on the shooters forum.

Thank you one and all for the welcome backs...

Steve O, Thank you for the info on the next weekend....  Sad part is I have to return to work that weekend of the jamboree too.     :help:
So I left and headed back home...  I did stop and Mid-Michee Bowmen club... and picked up and application and talked with the club President....   They were in working on the back stop.... Found out they have several Trad Archer in the club as well...

So the journey continues...

As I re-read this... I just wanted to point out that... This is not the Norm for Jays... I have had great service in the past...  Just an off day...
