Kenosha Bowmen
« on: June 13, 2013, 11:24:00 AM »
Hey Kenosha Bowmen, or those in the area of Great Lakes, IL attending the shoot this weekend:

My younger brother is in the Navy, he's currently stationed at Great Lakes for a little bit.  I just got him a longbow off the classifieds to use while he's out and about with the Navy, the base up there just happens to have a range.

He's 25 years old a real down to earth warrior-spirit type; He hasn't been shooting very long at all but has some real raw talent, I joke that he was an archer in a former life.   It's his first trad bow and I'm excited to have him on the path to archery and bowhunting.

He wants to attend the Kenosha shoot this Sunday and I was looking to hook him up with some good trad fellas to welcome him into the sport up there and give him notes.   Lemme know/ PM me I can give you his number or you can give me yours to relay to him.

Not to take anything away from the Kenosha club but if he really wants to immerse himself in trad. he should head over to Comptons this weekend.  Not really that far from GL and he'll be with several thousand other trad only shooters.  Unfortunately I can't make either shoot or I'd be glad to meet him.  We have several trad only shoots in S. Wisconsin this summer - have him get in touch with me or any other WTA (Wisconsin Traditional Archers) member for info.  Out state shoot is July 13th in Horicon.

Ex-Navy, ex-GL myself.

Yeah he's thinking it over, but its a 3 hr drive he's only free Sunday and the KB shoot is only 25 min from him, might be a good enough intro?  Comptons would be awesome but for him maybe sensory overload?!  Haha

Like Pete said have him check out the WTA. Go to the Wisconsin forum here also. We will be glad to help him out.

Kenosha Bowman has quite a few trad guys. I'm not sure if the shoot this weekend is trad only or an open invetational, but either way there should be guys there unless they are all going to Comptons. Comptons is a little over 2 hours fro GL.
