175 gr vpa?

I'm shooting 175 gr broadheads and am thinking about trying the vpa 3 blades. My question is, are there any differences or benefits between the 1 1/4" cut or the standard 3 blade? Thanks for the input!

That's hard to say, but I will say that the 175 VPA may be as close to a perfect BH as you can get.  Tough as nails, very easy to sharpen and penetrates well

The difference between the std 1 1/8 and the 1 1/4 is a mere 1/16" per blade, not really enough to matter.  I like wider heads, tho, so I went the extra bucks and have some 1 1/4 200 gr glue ons. You need to be comfortable with and have confidence in your equipment.

I really like their standard 1 1/8" cut 3 blade 175 grain head as well as the rest of their long profile 1 1/8" 3 blades. They are as tough as broadheads come, easy to sharpen and hold an edge, put a lot of blood on the ground, fly great, and penetrate as good or better than any other head I have ever shot. I have never used the 1 1/4" heads but I know Curt (Guru) really likes them for turkeys. I imagine they would be an excellent head. I just can't see paying the extra money for them when the standard ones work so well.

I know this is not the question you asked, but have you considered the 2 blade Penetrator...I switched from the 3 blade Terminator to the 2 blade and am more than pleased

the 175 grain 1 1/4 heads are not as long as the 1 1/8 175 grain heads, i think you have to go up to 200 grains to get the longer heads

The 175 grain 1 1/8 are shorter too. Called VPA and they said the new ones are a little shorter, but they increased the blade thickness.

Here's a pic of the cut of a 175 grain 1 1/8" VPA that put down my 1st trad deer.

I'm not stretching the wound at all.. just laying my hand there.
..I know it kinda looks like I am ..but really I'm not.

The shot was high and back.

The only vital hit was the liver.
I'm thankful that I was using 3 blades to let as much blood out as it could with such a poor shot.
There was a LOT of internal bleeding..made the doe look pregnant when I got up to her...

Wouldn't look too bad if I was in a tree...but this was a ground hunt..so it was pretty high.

I think the 1 1/4" heads kill them just a little deader.

I have killed quite a bit of game with the 175 & 200 grain screw-in Terminator and the 160 glue on Terminator, all out of bows from 50 to 56#.  The latest was a nice bear in Manitoba witha 54# Robertson TribalStyk.  Every kill has been a pass through except one that went through the shoulder of a whitetail doe out of a 54# TallTines and I got enough penetration on her to poke a hole in her heart.  I still love my Snuffers, but the VPAs are nice for the lighter weights.  I use the KME stones, coarse to fine and then a leather strop to finish them.
