Thumb ring shooters

Hey I know there are a few out there. I have really been wanting to take a stab at the thumb ring. I notice the some guys shoot on the right side of the bow(r hand draw) and some on the left(still r hand). I saw and interesting technique demenstrtated for. Using the left side of the bow with a r hand thumb ring release. Does anyone use this release for bow hunting? Can you use a modern short recurve like say a 52" bear? Finally could you point me in the right direction for finding out more info in thumb ring styles of shooting.

Give Joel Turner a call. His number is 253-686-3623. He has just about perfected the thumb release. You can see some picks under the target panic thread in the shooting forum. He hunts with it and is shooting on the left side of bow and is a right hand shooter.

I hunt left side, thumb ring as well.  Yes, you can do it with said bow.

That shows a way to compensate if the release skews your arrows, but I don't find it necessary.  I wouldn't even use the ring if it weren't for the fact that my genetic condition leaves me unable to grow callouses and makes my skin rip easily.  The thumb release is used bare by many aboriginal American groups still.  Ishi shot it bare, as I recall.

I'm doing it the same way as Halfseminole. In fact, I copied his technique after seeing it on a previous post. ( Thanks a heap,
Halfseminole ). It's made a world of difference in my shooting. The first two fingers on my string hand won't completely straighten due to an old injury and it causes me to have a built in pluck. Not an issue with the thumb ring.
