Zwickey Delta 2 blade
« on: July 12, 2013, 05:38:00 AM »
First i would like to apologize for my never ending questions. Anyway, i'm shooting a 45 @ 28 Kodiak mag that i draw to nearly 28. Bow scale says 44 at my draw. I bought a pack of Zwickey Delta 2 blades. Will these be ok from my light draw bow or should i pick up some eskimos. They fly like laser beams, just as accurate as field points. I didn't notice they were 1 3/8" wide when i ordered them. Are they going to be able to pass through with a good hit on a whitetail? I have them mounted on adapters and my arrows weigh in at 526 grains. What do you guys thinks of this setup? Thanks Matt .

Matt

Fly like lasers
Nice arrow weight 526 grains

I think the deer in your hunting area better beware

Sounds like a great combination

No problem- especially if they are flying well and hitting where you are looking. Should have short trails if you put them where they belong. Have a good hunting season.

Super head, wide, fly great and sharpen easily. I shoot them along with 2 blade Eskimos.

Keep them! I do think you will have better blood trails then with the Eskimo's. (My experience) The little bit of extra width will not hurt...

IMO a 44lb. bow will shoot those Deltas like a bullet and you will get great results with them.  I shoot heavier bows and use the 4-blades---I have used them for about 50 years and never a single complaint about them---I like them a bunch.

They'll do just fine.  I shoot'em also and they blow through deer.  What part of NY are you from.  Joe

YUP, I use them when I hunt with my 45# Kodiak Hunter and killed a few deer with them.

Might want to pack one of them little folding shovels, so you can dig them up, after pass throughs.  :D

Thanks guys, I will stick with em. What do you guys use to get them shaving sharp? I am from Geneva by the way. I was hoping to hear it would work fine. I already know they are tough, i hit a big rock with one when stumping this morning. The tip curled the tiniest bit, i touched it with a stone and back in action again. Still passed the spin test. If that was any other of the heads i shot with my compound, it would have broke. Cheap, tough, and they even match the green glass on my k mag. Matt.

I use a file that I picked up at a specialty tool store.

I also round the tip and take that needle point off.

Accusharp or any of the pull through carbide sharpeners will work great. Just hone on a jewel stick or crock stick once you bring the edge up and they'll shave easily.

I've killed bears, whitetails and turkeys with essentially the same set up - you'll be fine.
