Hunting in Hawaii?
« on: July 20, 2013, 05:59:00 AM »
So, my wife and I are considering a 2014 vacation spot.  My wife said she'd really like to go to Hawaii.  We haven't done any research yet, but if we're going to be in Hawaii I'd like to hunt some if possible.  Do you have any suggestions for an island that has great beaches and tourist areas that are also reasonably close to hunting areas?

Also, I'm a school teacher, so this would probably be during my February or April break, or possibly over the summer.  I mention this because hunting seasons may be a factor.

Again, I haven't looked into anything myself yet, but I figured some good responses hear from those of you who live and/or hunt in Hawaii might point me in the right direction and save me some time.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

there's a couple folks from Hawaii here, do a search and you should find some names to PM..  they have hogs there,,, if you fly fish they also have some of the biggest bone fish on the planet too.

Hawaii offers some great hog hunting as well as Mouflon, wild goats, axis deer and black tail. I put 900 miles on my Jeep while on my honeymoon and saw lots of game. The big island is loaded with cattle and cowboys. Beautiful place.

Just got back from Hawaii. Man if those chickens on Kauai were legal to shoot they would be a rovers dream. I could tie some nice flies from those roosters.

The island of Lani is packed with Axis deer. I am just not sure how you would go about it. The locals hunt them all the time
