Looks like a take on the Penobscot bow.

Probably feels like an exercise appliance when you draw it, being powered by rubber bands.    :dunno:

I'm guessing there is a reason we have never seen these, but interesting idea, definitely a conversation piece if you have bow collection

I got lucky enough to be able to visit with Earl Bateman at his shop one day and he asked me; "Hey, would you like to see my old baw collection?" I was quick to answer yes and he took me upstairs and I saw a very neat collection of very old bows. In that collection he had a bow or two that were of this design, or very similar. He knew everything about all of the bows and explained how they worked. It was a neat day to spend time with a guy who has all the archery knowledge that Earl does.

I bet that rascal makes some kind of a racket when you shoot it! Anybody know who made it?

This pretty wild, wonder how it works. The notches in the limb look like it would have an adjustment of some sort.

That's what the description said and as said, I bet it was noisy, wonder if it predates the compound???? Or maybe a stepping stone to the Oneida???

Didn't look at the description I guess...would it affect string length?

I doubt it would effect string length, but would definitely effect(I think) preload and total draw weight.

Very cool! There is a company called white wold that makes a bow called the wind warrior that looks like that. Pretty neat and complicated looking recurve with two sets of limbs.

I had seen drawings in the past but not an actual bow. Interesting notion to be able to change draw weights and and provide suspect performance at any setting!

Bisch, is this one of his designs?

This bow is (I think) different from the Penobscot design in that the inside limbs appear to be mounted on pivots, as if the only pull they derive is from the front limbs, not as an assist to each other at all, but maybe more like using a tow or snatch line the you pull from the half mark to get better leverage.  Seems like a lot of stuff needing to happen when you can just get an old bow and shoot it.
