200 - 300 grain points on AD Trads for D-Shaped Longbow

Ok, D-shaped longbow shooters. I know it's probably a cardinal sin to shoot carbons from a D-shaped bow, but I have better luck with carbons.
Here's my set-up. Toelke Super D 66", 55# @ 28" - I am pulling a tad over 29" with 3 under release.
Arrows that I want to use are A/D Trads with point weight of 225 - 300 grains up front. Will this set-up work?
Please share your experiences and set-ups!

NO!!
I'm just kidding with you as I shoot wood and have no idea if the AD Trads work or not.

Bob,
I'm drawing 27" on a couple of NM's that are 52#@28".
I'm getting really great flight with AD Trad Lites and standard inserts with 300 gr up front or 100gr inserts with 250gr up front.
The AD's really like bows that are not cut past center.

Ken,
I figured that you would be responding on this one!!
Need to get your seat back to you. Might have to "borrow" some of those AD Trads again

That's fine....Let me know.
If you end up shooting the Trads instead of the Lites, I've got several you can use for ever how long you need to.
Looking at Stu's Calculator, if you're using an 8 strand FF string, you should be very, very close with a 30" AD Trad, 100 gr. insert, and 200 gr - 250 gr. head. Standard insert and 275 gr - 300 gr. head looks good too.
If you go with the 100 gr insert and 250 gr. tip. Specs are:
703 gr. arrow
12.1 gpi
24.3% FOC
That's a hoss of a setup!
I'll shoot you a PM.

Hog medicine for sure Bob. At that weight you won't hear it at all. BTW, I shoot both carbon and wood out my Super D and sleep just fine at night! lol
BTW, Super Ds are extremely spine tolerant in my experience and lean toward shooting too lightly spined arrows better than too heavily spined. Don't be scared to front weight them.

Hog arrows need to be tough Bob and ADs are that in spades!

Trads and Stu's don't exactly coincide....
I would say that the regular Trads would work....but I can't guarantee....but 95% sure they would.

Terry,
I couldn't agree more. At least the new version lists the AD's, but it doesn't do them justice as far as their ability to handle so many different setups. These arrows are unbelievably adaptable to different bows.
I got turned onto them after reading your recommendations.
I do wish the nocks were a little more durable.

Ken,
Change over to easton g nocks with the unibushing, that is what I have on all of my ADs, they make them for ADs.
I shoot the AD hammerhead lites out of my 53#-57# bows, even tried them out of my 62# Cari-Bow Slynx and they fly great, shoot the AD trads also, all with 100 gr brass insert and 300 gr point.
I like the hammerhead lites as they are pretty close in weight to the AD trads, 11-11.5 gpi.

I am also interested in the AD shafts. Are they tapered? With 100 grain inserts and 250 heads what do these arrows weight say at 29in long? I hear these are some real tough shafts. My main interest would be for a 55lb. R&D longbow for shooting 3d mostly.
Thanks in advance, Tom M

Thanks guys. I just ordered 5 dozen G nocks and unibushings. Anxious to give them a try.
Not sure, but I believe a 29 incher should weigh somewhere around 680-690 gr

Just ordered a half dozen AD Trad shafts, with the 100 grain inserts and the uni-bushings with G nocks. Gonna see what I can set up the 58# @ 29" Super D with using 250-300 grains up front!
Now, once I get the right combo for this bow, (and my new gator hide leather grip on it - courtesy of awbowman), I will have my two hunting set-ups for this year.
My 58#@29" Centaur DM with VAP arrow set up and the Toelke Super D with the AD arrow set up. Grizzly broadheads and Centaur Battle Axes up front!
