update ft stewart hunters and those that travel here!!!
« on: August 03, 2013, 03:07:00 PM »
I went to complete my archery qualification today. I was informed that the regulations changed last week and that you are no longer required to qualify with a bow as long as you do not hunt in the garrison area. The qualification for trad bows is 2 out of 3 shots in a nine inch circle at 15yds and 20yds from the ground in case you do want to hunt in the garrison area. The phone number to confirm this is 9124358061 ft Stewart pass and permit. Happy hunting I'll be chasing more piggies now!!

Never question a man's choice in bows or the quality of an animal he kills.  He is the only one who has to be satisfied with either of those choices.

That's Great News.
If you only knew what I went through when they first came out with this requirement to make it at least reasonable for Trad guys. The test was the same for all bows at first.

One less thing to worry about when I return from Afghanistan.
A world of opportunities awaits upwind but nothing waits downwind.

Yea its been getting a little ridiculous out there with the rules lately. Hopefully this is a sign of things going back to the way they were. I'm just glad I don't have to go qualify cause I work on hunter and going to Stewart is a drive. Not too mention my schedule is pretty crazy so its nice to just be able to go hunt when I know I'm ready not when some one else says I am. I don't hunt the garrison areas any way.

The whole qualification thing has kept me from bowhunting there for the past 3 years.
I live almost 8 hours away and can't imagine going down and flunking the qual.
I hunted down there with other weapons until last year when they instituted the registration process.
Guess I'll make some plans to head back.  The place is full of hogs.

I live about ten minutes from my hunting spot so this is great news for me but I can't imagine how good it is for you out of staters. If  you ever head this way threeunder give me a shout same goes for you whiteoak or really anyone. I'd enjoy hunting with a fellow tradganger all my friends hunt with wheels. You still have to register just no qualifying. I think the change came when people said why don't gun hunters have to qualify.

It is good news.

Never understood why one group was singled out because of their weapon. I gusee it's ok for a gun shooter to be a horrible shot ???????
