Why is that such a bad thing? I haven't done it, but I do like to buy and sell and would not pay "high" and sell low when buying off the adds here. My goal is if its something I haven't shot before and I'm unsure then I try to get a good deal so when I sell I can get out from it sideway.

If someone someone loves trad bows and enjoys seeing shooting, and selling then I see nothing wrong with it. Beats someone selling drugs to kids.....

Lately it seems bows are going for a fraction of what they are worth, and they are hard to sell. I know I don't usually get back what I paid.
If it's in your way, move it.

I'm here to tell ya that if I could make a living buying and selling bows on here I'd become a sponsor and go for it.  That would beat the tar out of getting up in the morning at 5 am and killing myself in the heat like I've got to do.  Buy low sell high is pretty standard capitalism, right? Whats the ethical dilemma ? Is there more to this story?

Unfortunately that is capitalism, I have only sold a couple of bows here & my last one I sold only lasted an hour (yes I sold it that cheap) I don't mind helping out a fellow tradganger with a good deal, I hope I'm not helping someone run a business. If so,  I will go back to just donating them to the troops overseas if that's what's going on.

If I remember right it was camp Cuervo, I think it was the Michigan longbow club who helped me donate a bow or two to the troops.

Nothing wrong with capitalism....that is what built this country...but the classifieds here weren't to ever be about that.  It was to offer a place for guys to sell and trade bows they didn't want anymore....

As anywhere and anything there are folks that are users and takers that try and scew up a good thing.

I've not sold on the classifieds but I have bought a lot. As to this conversation I cannot see for the life of me what is wrong with anyone selling or buying bows. This I America and that is about as American as it can get. Sorry but I sure can't see the harm in it in any way nor can I see why anyone should gripe about it. I also fail to see where it is screwing up anything. I love going to the classifieds and seeing what is there and what it sells for. I have three Bears, A Martin Hunter , A saxon, a Holms River Runner and even an EagleWing I have bought off of the classifieds and all from really great guys.
A lot of these guys use this forum to just basically trade for different bows that they have not tried before. Some of them do it at a pretty large loss to themselves. I can honestly say that I have not seen anyone making any big bucks off of any of the sales on the classifieds. Actually I have seen some really great deals on some real great bows.

God bless, Steve

I think the key word in Gator's original post is unscrupulous! Nothing wrong with fair trade, but watching out for wolves in sheep's clothing is always good practice. Just my $.02.

What I saw Terry, was that Gator was not happy with people buying low and selling high.

That is honestly something I have not seen on the site. It in itself is not unscrupulous but is good trading. I am not guilty of that but I sure see nothing wrong in making a good buy and then making a profit on it.

I have seen very few bows on the classifieds sell for more than I felt the bow was worth and I do spend a lot of time looking on there.

In fact there have been some awesome buys on there and I especially encourage those that cannot yet afford to buy a new custom bow to go look at the classifieds and get a great bow at a great price. For instance there is a Fox longbow on there right now that I am drooling all over lol.

God bless, Steve

caveat emptor is ever the rule.

as long as the buy/sell/trade deal is executed within our rules, the matter of value of purchase or trade is personally subjective.

buy low, sell high?  caveat emptor.

as terry has posted many times, the trad gang classifieds is service to the membership.  the asking and selling price of gear is up to the seller and buyer - do your homework and make your decision.

i'll add - please do not make public posts about such matters.  email me or terry privately.  thank you.

as always, if there is deception happening and we are privately alerted, we will usually try to assist.  we do want to keep track of scammers.

again, and as always - caveat emptor.

Rob. You guys do a great job!  Classifieds is a wonderful resource and although at times I'm sure you, Terry and the others would just like to shut that whole side of the site down, it really allows many of us to get our hands on bows (and other items) we need and want without having to go elsewhere and deal with other sites that MAY not be as dedicated to a sense of honor amongst brothers.  (And you're just enough of a hard-ass   :D  ).
I personally was part of a group that was stung by a fairly recent scumbag there and although my loss was not a lot of $$...it's the principle that counts....and a few others were taken for more. You guys jumped on it as soon as it was discovered and did everything possible to take care of the problem. I don't think anyone ever receiverd their items or cash but the efforts taken by the mods certainly made me feel safe in going back and trusting other members.  Thanks again.  As long as its all fair...it's all good.
