300 gr glue ons
« on: August 13, 2013, 10:22:00 PM »
So earlier this year I bought some 300 gr tuffheads and their 300 gr brass points. Long story short I love the broadheads but I can not get their field points on true for the lif eof me.  I don't believe it's my taper as all the rest of the points I have 11/32 and 23/64 fit my tapers great. Has anyone else had bad luck with these points or is it just me. I have 6 and none of them will sit on a shaft true.  If anyone else has any tips or knows of some other 300 gr glue ons please let me know. Thanks.

I put them on steel adapters and they fit fine.

Having said that,if you are grinding your taper to a point, you are too long for the 300 gr field point.Measure the inside of the field points ferrule. It doesn't come quite to a point.

No definitely not ground to points more my tapers resemble more of a short aluminum adapter. Mounted some up again the other day tried fiddling with them and still no luck.

The only thing I can think of is that your taper is slightly off.I have some loose,300 gr Tuffhead field points here and steel adapters fit in them perfectly with now wiggle room at all.If you have or can get a long adapter and try that in the head and it fits properly, then you may have to adjust the angle of your taper. At least the ones I have fit as precisely as any point I've ever used.If you find that a 5 degree adapter doesn't work,I'd give Joe at Tuffhead a call.

This is one mounted on a steel adapter, sitting in the tip alignment jig.I didn't have to tweak any of them. This is how they glued on.
