Bear Montana

I'm considering buying a Bear Montana for a light #40 bow. Has anyone bought/shot one? What are your thoughts on this bow?

I don't typically consider myself a longbow guy, but i've already decided it's going to be my next bow    A friend said he had his for sale, so I went over to try it and really enjoyed it, I think it's an underrated bow and anyone who has one or who has shot one would agree.

That's exactly what I've heard about this bow too. For the price, it's hard to beat!

I've shot one, and they are very smooth, accurate bows.

I have had 2, a 55# and a 50#....great bows at a fair price. Tough as nails and real good shooters. If I didn't draw 29"+ I would still have the 50#'er. A 40# Montana would be nice!

Although I have never owned one, I have shot one a few times and liked it. It seems to be a nice, smooth bow and a good one for the cost.

I just looked at a new Montana today and a new Grizzly. I'm honestly impressed with the design and quality of each . Oh and I'm particular, LOL.

The Montana is a fine longbow. Very much worth the new price and a real steal on the used maket. Very quiet and surprisingly quick too. A simple, effective, well built tool.

I have one. It shoots well. I can pick it up anytime and shoot it well if my other longbows are not behaving.

I had one back in 2008 and I shot it very well. You can generally pick up a used one for around 200 bucks. They're a great buy.

I have one, it's a fantastic bow for the money.  the only thing I didnt like was the leather on the grip.  I ordered a slip on grip from 3riversarchery and problem solved.  It shoots great.  a smooth drawing quiet bow.  If your looking for a good longbow for the money i dont think you'd be dissapointed.

a 50 lb. montana was my first longbow, followed by a 45 lb... then i discovered custom bows!  sold the 45 lb. but i kept the 50 lb and will probably never get rid of it... it's a great bow, particularly for the money - can't beat it for the price, if you ask me... pretty quiet, very little hand shock and it'll take a beating in the back country... (it's the bow i carry if i'm concerned that rough terrain and climbing might subject the bow to rough treatment...)

if you can't afford a custom, this is the bow to get, if you ask me...

I had a chance to pick one up in the Cabelas bargain barn, marked down to 180 bucks.....

I was into recurves then so I passed it by...

The Bear Montana is a nice bow. Like mentioned the factory grip will not last very long. I would recommend replacing the rest and side plate and the grip, if you like leather grips. I stippled my grip along with a few little modifications. You can also replace the factory string and go with a good skinny string and that baby will surprise in the performance department.

Get you a Montana and you'll never regret it

had one when they first came out. very good bows. but traded it off for something else.  i think that i should have kept it
