ladder replacement seat??
« on: August 18, 2013, 08:59:00 PM »
I have an older ladder stand that had a sling style padded seat that needs to be replaced.  I have a nice net sling seat I put on my climber last year, but it doesn't seem it would fit the bill.

I'm thinking about a DIY project; badminton net to fit?  A few strips of webbing then cross-braced with ...

Any thoughts about using good old duct tape?  I'm thinking about getting a fresh roll with a high thread count, but do you folks think it would last outdoors in the elements for a season?  For the cost of a roll, I would have no qualms redoing the seat every year, but of course, safety is foremost in mind.

Other ideas?

If I was going to be off the ground, I would not mess around w/duct tape or badminton net. My health is worth more than that. Hap

If you want a net style seat. You get a piece of tennis net. They are usually made with about 1/4" width rope. Should be strong enough. You be able to get some from parks dept  or maybe a school with a tennis court in your area as they have to change them every so often.

one option that would be very cheap would be to just buy good 2" webbing and sew one up. sew it with fastflight serving and it will hold better than anything. my buddy makes his own tree saddle harnesses this way and the cost is very low. cut a few peices, mark sewing spots with a sharpie and stich it together.

X2 on the 2inch webbing

my ladder stand has a metal grate seat.

You could always cut a piece of wood and pad it.

Ol Man sells replacement seat netting for their stands.  Should be one that is pretty close to yours.  I find the net seat to be very comfortable even for a long sit.
