I'm heading to Colorado next week for a wilderness hunt for elk in the NW corner of the state. I am taking a small digital camera and two small video cams plus a notebook and pencils. I will journal every day and take lots of pix. I plan on using one of the pix as a cover for the Fall 2013 TradArchers' World magazine and include a story about the elk hunt in that issue, as well. Also will post pix and story here.
I have seen many very fine stories here on TradGang and invite any TG elk hunters to share their photos and stories with the readers of TAW in upcoming issues. Hope to see a bunch of them. Send to

If I should kill an elk this year, it should be on national news, not just TradArchersWorld! I did have a story published waaay back when in Bowhunter about killing a bear that came to my elk bugle; don't know what that says about my bugling technique, though.
At any rate, if I should by some miracle kill an elk, I would love to tell the story in your mag.

Yes Centaur, for me as well. Fourth time is a charm, I hope.
The second trip I had a small bull within about 30-35 yards angling away. I started the draw sequence but lowered my bow as it seemed too far. That is the closest I have ever gotten. But I called him in past my son who was not ready and that was pretty exciting all by itself! Good luck to the rest of you guys as well.

I'll try to document a little better. Hopefully the wapiti gods continue to shine on my crew. Good hunting to all you elk men.
Stay sharp...
