Sitka owners- advice one more time
« on: September 02, 2013, 07:33:00 PM »
I have about 260 buck left in the kitty to purchase some gear.  So far I have 2 pairs of ascent pants and a traverse zip.  All in forest.  What's my next move?
The stuff I think I want they don't make in forest.  I was thinking about 2 SS core shirts and either a Jetstream vest in Gray or an ascent jacket in forest.  What's the best bang for the buck.  I need it to double for an elk hunt in 2 weeks and whitetail season.

Does anyone mix Kuiu verde and forest together?  I really like the guide jacket because of the hood.

I have the 90% jacket and it is my favorite piece.  But That being said I have the Jest Stream Jacket on my list.  I just like a hood on my jacket for these cold windy days or lightly rainy day

I like those too but they don't make them in forest.  I'm not real crazy about the fanatic stuff and its so heavy.

I'd get a set of merino and a Kelvin vest. I always have a kelvin vest with me. On or scrunched up all tiny in my pack  for a night on the mountain.  Their merino base layers are awesome.

Sometimes I will wear Kuiu Verde merino shirt with Sitka Forest pants...I prefer Sitka Forest for whitetail hunting from a tree stand.

If you're looking for a jacket with a hood, have you looked at the Sitka Stratus jacket, as it has a hood. Might be a little heavy for chasing elk, but I like it for whitetail hunting.

I have many pieces. I like my Core Hoody ($99) and the Kelvin Vest ($189)

I wear lots of the core items as my outer garment for much of the white-tail season.

The Stratus Jacket is great as well.

The Fanatic uppers aren't well suited for left-handed archers.  The gear pocket on the right chest interfere with the bowstring. I bought the Fanatic jacket and found this out.

Mixing the patterns makes no difference to the animals-only to us. I  am very impressed with the 'early season whitetail pants' I bought this year-very well thought out and well made.

Another vote for Stratus Jacket. It has windstopper in it and should work for both a late Sept elk hunt and of course whitetail tree stand hunting.
