I use a leather glue that's like a super thick super glue (mostly Barge but one other, too). As of yet I've had no problems with cut stitching.

The best design, which ain't mine, is the single stitch wet moulded one where the stitching follows the ferrule. It saves on time and stitching but requires a larger piece of scrap.
