It's that time of year again...thank The Lord! Here's an updated copy of Terry's post last year to recap what to expect on this group adventure:
There will be a Traditional Bowhunters of GA Cohutta Wilderness hunt September 14-16. This hunt will be in the N GA Mountains for bear, hogs, deer and small game. The Cohutta Managment area includes some 95,000 acres, and has 33,000 acres of wilderness in the middle.
This is more than just a hunt, its an adventure unto itself, rugged terrain can be found just out of camp...but there is also some mild roaming here and there. There are two wild and scenic rivers in the wilderness, dozens of ruff and tumble creeks and streams, cliffs, waterfalls, hemlocks as big around as a VW bug, and mountain laurel galore. Its a very beautiful place, and makes for a nice Sept Hunt since its usually cooler here than in most parts of GA and even parts of surrounding states.
Some of us will be arriving Friday 9/14 to set up camp, scout, and hunt. Meals are grab and go from your own supplies, though we usually have a pot luck for dinner with everyone pitching in some for variety. I'm trying to convince Miss Kim to send some cookies :D It's a good 45minutes to any place remotely close to get a bite, so bring everything you will need. Primative camping at the campgrounds is free, but you will need a current GA archery/big game license and Wildlife Management Area Permit for this hunt. See

Directions from Chatsworth: take hwy. 411 north to Eton, turn right at light and follow Holly Creek road 11.6 miles to the check station. TBG always camps up on top of Bald Mountain, turn uphill out of check station and take the left at the top and watch for the campground sign on your left.
