New to all aspects
« on: September 08, 2013, 09:00:00 PM »
Hey guys, My name is Rob. I am new to traditional archery and all that goes along with it. A buddy of mine told me about this site and said it was a great place with a lot of great guys. So I just figured I'd introduce myself. If anyone has any good tips or anything please drop a line. Thanks guys.

There is a search function just below the sponsors block at the top of the age. Just plug in your
interests and read to your heart's content. Will you hunt this year?

I may, but I probably wouldn't try until late October. I just got my first long bow so I need some time to practice. I figure I'll try to get a couple deer so I got meat in the freezer before I try to use the Long bow.

Glad to hear you have great respect for hunting by stating you want to practice first until you are good enough to use your new longbow. That kind of dicepine is getting harder to come by these days. I like and respect eh way you think.
Lots of great info here and great people. Welcome to the world of Traditional Bwohunting.

Welcome!

By your name, I assume that you are also into the other greatest way to hunt, trad black powder.    ;)   Would I be correct?

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, hunting ethically is high on my priority's no matter the weapon or animal. You are correct with seeing people not hunting with those principles. Especially here in NJ. Kind of why I wish they would go back to no crossbows and no scopes on muzzleloaders. Get rid of the guys thinking a crossbow is a 100yard weapon and a muzzleloader is a 300 yard weapon. Sorry for the rant. You started it lol

Yes sir you would be correct. I am a avid black powder shooter. I belong to two clubs where I shoot and compete in. I'm also in the NRA Marksmanship program. I'm a Expert with the rifle, which I need 3 more targets and I get my Distinguished Expert and I'm a Sharpshooter which I need one more for my Expert with a pistol. I also have some black powder shotguns that I'm hoping to use for some small game this season.
