Reunion Hunt
« on: September 21, 2013, 02:12:00 PM »
I got home a week ago from my first Elk hunt. The mountains of Colorado are absolutely beautiful. Even though we only saw one Elk it was a trip I'll never forget. I had the good fortune to share this experience with "Tater". This is the first time we have got to camp and hunt together in forty years.
We were able to set up camp and have dry weather the following day, after that we had rain daily, usually in the afternoon and evenings. Pat has been doing this for a long time so he had everything that was needed for a very comfortable and dry camp.
We did get to see a big bull Moose and several mule Deer but the Elk just did not cooperate. Maybe next time...     Scott

I've got a few more pics I'll have to put on another post. I have hit the limit on this one.

Beautiful photos! Is that a Stalker recurve?

The recurve is a Blacktail.

We had a great hunt even if the weather and the Elk didn't exactly cooperate. In 10 days we covered alot of country that normally, I see or hear Elk almost every day.
I believe the unusual weather, heavy rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning most afternoons/evenings had alot to due with the low Elk numbers we saw.

  Charlie,
When you get out this way again we will definately get together. I look forward to it.
