Easton Legacy Alum. comparison

I have a set of Easton Legacy aluminum arrows.shafts which a friend could not use so he gave to me.
They don't show the grade, like 2017, etc.
It just has 60-65# next to the name.
Does anyone know how these translate to an arrow size like 2017, etc?

They may or may not be good for my 50# Wing Falcon.

What do you think?

How long the arrows are is going to make a big difference.  If they are full length, you may still be able to tune them to a 50# bow.  If they are shorter, they may be too stiff.  I think the 60-65# rating is like a 2117.

Yes, 60-65 is a 2117 size. I tried these from my Hill style bow. I cut them to 29in. They were to stiff even with160grain field tips. Remember, the closer to center cut on your riser the better chance the stiffer arrows will work. Also the longer they are helps. Front loading them works to a point, to much and they drop like rocks.

I think that's what the 2020s I was shooting today say on them, but then again 2117 and 2020s spine pretty similar.

I know my 2020's say 60-65, if they are 5/16 dia they are 2020, bigger they are 2117, only a few ponds difference.

I just noticed that there's a tiny gray number near the fletching
20 20 like that
Does that mean these equate to a 2020 shaft?
That I guess that would be close to a 2017 except .03 stiffer.
These shafts are 29.5" long -- I think they are uncut.
I generally draw 27 so you guys are suggesting I don't cut it at all.

The 2117 is a little stiffer

I thought the higher the number the stiffer the shaft.
So it's like the thickness of sheet metal. Lower the number thicker the plate?

It's pretty simple actually, the first number is outside diameter in inches divided by 64... i.e. 2018 = 20/64" or 5/16".

The second number is wall thickness in thousands of an inch... i.e. 2018 = .018" wall thickness...

Not to make it more confusing, but I've always felt 2020s were stiffer out of my bows than 2117s, or at least they seem to be, but I know the charts indicate different... Maybe they are just heavier in weight???

BTW Ssamac.... The higher the deflection number, the weaker the shaft...

I suspect yours are 2020s rated for 60-65#. The aluminum walls look really thick for shafting on 2020s, and the outside diameter is fairly small (5/16") If ya have one, a micrometer would inform for sure...

They feel heavy in hand too...

With the thick walls, they are really durable for aluminum...

Yes correct and I should know that since I've been told before but I never remember which number is the outside diameter and which is the wall thickness. And Yes they do say 60-65# on the shaft.

That said, the 2020 wall should measure .020 which would be stiffer than .018, correct? Or does it go the other way, lower is stiffer like sheet metal?

In any case, they should be pretty close to one another. Probably need a different insert, etc.

Don't know about sheet metal gauges, but yep, .020 of and inch is 2,000th thicker than .018... (that 2,000 is a big difference when coming to durability of aluminum shafting)

2016s are fairly delicate if hitting something solid, where as 2018s as more durable, where as 2020s are a pretty tough shaft for aluminum...
