Howatt Hunter Grip Advice.
« on: September 27, 2013, 10:35:00 PM »
Looking for suggestions. I have a 1964 Rosewood Howatt Hunter. I really love this bow but I'm sure I would love it even more if the throat of the grip was thicker. Usually I would just put a shur grip on it but I don't think that would work on this grip. Anyone got any suggestions?

Several of the archery suppliers here sell a "bow saddle" It's a self adhesive piece of leather that just fits into the throat of the grip.

You could add a leather saddle or use some tennis wrap material,it doesn't look pretty but will thicken up the grip.I have a posi-grip on my 08 Hunter,I feel it stretches more easily then a shur-grip.Maybe try that one instead of a shur-grip.

I used racquetball racquet wrap to thicken up my Bear Montana grip. Thick soft rubber, not the paper thin stuff. It works great and doesn't look near as crappy as I thought it would. Kinda cool actually. At least to my biased eye...

Funny I have a Mamba ,that I wish the grip was smaller on . Go to the hardware store and find a roll of Plumbers tape. It's soft rubber that sticks to itself, and just roll it on till it feels right. Works great and cheap!
