I have been working with and shooting many different arrow wood . I think for my 50 # +/- recurves it well be ash arrows this year for hunting. I have 10-12 5/16 tapered to 1/4 spined right and right around 500 gr.that are done and shoot well. I we'll turn down some 80lb +/- , 23/64 to 5/16 then taper nock end to 1/4 .In the past they have spined out at about 50 . A lot of work but I like small diameter shafting .

Sounds like you know what you're doing. I could never keep ash straight. Many favorable choices all very beautiful with most any stain & seal. Good luck.

Ash is likely on of the more underrated arrow woods. I've had great luck with it! I wish I had never been talked back into cedar years back after mike (silent pond shafts) closed up shop. He really made an great ash shafts!
