My dad used to de-scent skunk pelts with a smut fire when he trapped to sell skins to the government to make trim on parkas etc during WWII. It also got the smell off of him. So I think it would at least be worth a try.

If you know anyone that keeps bee's, it looks like the same thing. I have a friend that would smoke his clothes over the camp fire before elk hunting. He swore by it and had a cow come down wind of him for a minimal yardage shot. The natives would do it.

It is more convenient than starting a fire before you go hunting and it works. I really need to get more hunting footage so people can see how effective smoking your clothes is while hunting. Silent Sniper used this trick to his satisfaction and was able to kill a doe this last week. Look him up and ask him if it works. He has pictures that will prove it doesn't hurt!
