I killed a grouse with my bare hands the other day...I missed a close shot at it with a broad head and it did a helicopter style takeoff and came right toward me...I just grabbed it out of the air

Raccoon season starts here in about a month and I hope to get back out. Did see a nutria on the golf course today that had me thinking about a hunt this weekend. Small game hunting is just about my favorite any more.

Yes. I always carry one " chicken" arrow, we call them, for grouse. It's a wood arrow, with a judo on the end, cheap and not so sad if you loose it. I have 2 grouse so far. Good eating! I want to try something different for heads. Maybe something that would slide easily out of a back quiver. What heads are you guys using?

Very cool story Dave!
I miss grouse hunting in northern Michigan
A week ago today.
I had 12 deer around my stand at dawn. Too many. I couldn't get a shot without being busted. I eventually got down and set a blind to use in a couple of weeks to hunt with my kids. I decided to walk around and scout a bit afterwards and took a shot at this guy.

I've bagged three squirrels and my first coyote so far. The woods are full of treerats this year and it's loads of fun to shoot at'em. I believe I like it more than deer hunting.

Not yet! Went out for a short bunny hunt last week. I had a couple of close calls but no shots.

Missed a couple squirrels so far. Can't wait for fur season since I've been seeing many raccoons. Usually by this time I've taken many armadillos with my bow as well as an assortment of other weapons but since we moved I haven't seen very many of them.
